In July 1988, an extraordinary moment took place backstage at Wembley Stadium in London—Princess Diana, the People’s Princess, met the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. This encounter, which happened before Jackson’s concert in aid of the Prince’s Trust charity, was their only in-person meeting but left a lasting impression on both.

He was so respectful that he chose to remove the controversial song “Dirty Diana” from the setlist, worried it might offend the princess.
